Monticello Safe Streets 4 All Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

Stonebrooke partnered with the City of Monticello to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The plan used a data-driven approach to identify high-risk areas and propose targeted strategies to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities on Monticello's transportation network. The project addressed all modes of travel, with a special emphasis on vulnerable road users, school zones, and underserved areas.

Stonebrooke collaborated closely with City staff to create a living framework for safety investments. Custom tools were developed to support crash analysis, project prioritization, and community input tracking. The plan integrated ADA considerations, traffic engineering expertise, and policy recommendations to create a holistic approach to local transportation safety — equipping Monticello with the knowledge and structure to lead future implementation efforts.

The plan underscores Monticello’s dedication to safety and equity by centering community voices and prioritizing transparent, inclusive solutions. Extensive public engagement, local data collection, and equity-based prioritization helped ensure that all residents — regardless of age, ability, or income — can travel safely throughout the city. The plan lays the foundation for a safer Monticello driven by local leadership and long-term accountability.
