The E Line is a new rapid transit bus line. It replaces the local Route 6 bus and provides faster, more frequent service along a 13.3-mile corridor from Southdale Center in Edina to Prospect Park in Minneapolis. It will replace one of Metro Transit’s highest-ridership bus routes, Route 6, from the METRO Green Line Westgate Station on the border of Minneapolis and St. Paul to Southdale Transit Center in Edina.

The E Line features "train-like" improvements, such as signal priority, wider stop spacing, and all-door boarding, to enhance reliability and the customer experience.
