Water Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Group Manager to lead and grow our Water Resources practice in the Burnsville, MN office. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of transportation and water resources projects for State, Local Government, and private clients. The primary focus will be on leadership, project delivery, and strategic growth of the water resources group.

  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and manage water resources staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Project Management: Oversee project delivery from conception through completion, managing timelines, resources, and budgets
  • Water Resources Design: Provide oversight and direction on stormwater management, drainage design, floodplain analysis, and hydraulic modeling
  • Technical Leadership: Guide design decisions and review plans, reports, and calculations for quality and accuracy
  • Business Development: Support proposal development and pursue new opportunities with existing and prospective clients
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
  • Client Management: Serve as a primary contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term relationships
  • Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • QStrategic Growth: Contribute to staffing, service expansion, and long-term direction of the water resources group

What we’re looking for in you.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and technical abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively
  • Strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater design
  • Experience with modeling software (HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, SWMM, etc.)
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering or related fields
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Minnesota (or ability to obtain)

Stuff we’re stopping short of assuming.

If you’ve gotten this far, we know these are things you have, and you probably have them in spades. But just in case:

  • Knowledge of CADD software, preferably MicroStation
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supervising staff
